VILLAGE LIFE
Welcome to the Village.
Here at Murdoch University Village, we are focused on providing you with the total university experience. That means we make sure you have plenty of activities to keep you entertained, informed and healthy and we also provide plenty of support along the way. Our support commences from before your arrival assisting you with the application process through to your ongoing residence with us. At the commencement of each semester all residents are thoroughly briefed on health and safety, evacuation procedures. They are introduced to the various staff and the Resident assistants who will in conjunction with the Assistant Manager and Residential Supervisor organise and provide the ongoing support and the provision of a broad based village program through out the semester that includes academic, cultural, recreational, sporting and social functions and actives.
CLV offers a unique activities program; this includes the
• CLV Speakers Program,
• Life skills Program and the
• Australian Experience Program.
Residents are encouraged to be actively involved in all the actives and social events and be part of the organizing committees and or put forward any social, sporting and educational ideas that they feel may be enjoyable or of benefit to others.
Residents of the Village come from all over Australia and from more than 38 other countries. Living in such a multi- cultural community can be an exciting part of residing in the village and the opportunity to develop life long friendships.
It is Village policy that where possible each apartment will house residents from different social and cultural backgrounds, both male and female.
The Village, while recognising the need for individual own space, be it for study, reflection or just time out we do put a lot of emphasis on the resident’s willingness to compromise and socially interact in the interests of the overall quality of life to the mutual benefit of all the residents in the Village community.
The Village offers 24 hour assistance to the residents, with a live-in manager on site. During office hours the Village Team provides varied administrative services, including general inquires, mail services and maintenance. Early evening assistance is provided by Resident Assistants who are supervised by a Residential Supervisor, for the remainder of the evening and morning the Village is patrolled by University security.
As with any community there are policies and procedures to ensure that all residents are aware of the standards of behavior that are appropriate to residing in such an environment.
The Village Team and Resident Assistants are readily available to provide advice, direction and peer support to residents.
