COMPUTER ACCESS AND LABS

The Student Village has a fully equipped computer laboratory located in the Study Centre (Building 93). It is accessible 24 hours a day for the completion of assignments and has internet access at an additional cost.

The computer lab is for the exclusive use of Village residents only.

Please note that cable internet access is available in ALL rooms in Student Village.

STUDY CENTRE

Murdoch University Village provides four group and individual study rooms for students who wish to study away from their flats or wish to have group study sessions/ meetings. These rooms are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are located at Building 93.

Rooms have tables and chairs, computer access points and whiteboards (whiteboard pens can be obtained from the Residential staff office between 5-11pm weekdays/ 11am-11pm weekends).

Residents are not required to book the study rooms.

TELEPHONES

Due to the high cost of providing fixed telephone lines, apartments in the village do not contain a telephone. We find most residents will obtain a mobile phone and if calling overseas, we recommend Skype which is available across the internet. There are telephones located in key common areas throughout the village and you can purchase Phone Cards from administration that will provide access to make telephone calls from these phones.

TV / VIDEO LOUNGE

The Village has a TV and video lounge area for residents. The lounge can be booked (at the Residential staff office) or opened upon request if it is not being used. After hours use is possible provided noise is kept to a minimum.

RECREATION / MUSIC ROOM

The Recreation Room is available to residents for socialising, entertaining guests or just relaxing. Facilities include a kitchen and lounge area, a potbelly stove and music system for residents' use.

Located in the Recreation Room is the village piano. Bookings are not required for any resident request to use this facility to play or practice a musical instrument.

Advance booking (non exclusive) of the Recreation Room can be made at the Residential Staff Office for social gatherings and use of kitchen facilities. The Rec Room is open to 11pm (Seven days a week).

SPORT / GAMES

The Recreation Room contains table tennis tables and a pool table. Gas barbecues, a beach (sand) volleyball court and basketball court are all located adjacent to the Recreation Room and freely available to our residents 7 days a week (to 11pm).

Hiring of sports equipment (such as table tennis and pool gear and sports balls) can be made at the Residential staff office in Building 31. You can also borrow a range of games for the night including Monopoly, Chess, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuits, Twister and playing cards. The office is opened till 11pm every night.

LAUNDRIES

Coin operated laundry facilities are located in several locations around the Village and include washing machines and dryers.

The cost per wash is $2 to $3 and a dry cycle is $1 to $3.

Clothes lines are available also and all facilities are for residents' exclusive use.

Change is available from the Housing Office (during office hours) and the Residential Staff Office (after hours till 11pm).
