STUDENT NETWORK FAQ
Is there access to internet / email?
Yes - internet access is available in ALL rooms at Student Village as well as in specially provided computer labs.
Can I study somewhere else other than my flat / room?
Student Village provides several large furnished study rooms for students who wish to study away from their flats, or wish to have group study sessions / meetings. These are open 24 hours/day for students to use and are located at building 93 (the study centre).
What other facilities does Student village provide?
Recreation Room - contains Table Tennis tables, Pool Table, Video games, music, barbecue, pot belly stove and other recreational facilities.
A beach sand volleyball court, a basketball court and half court tennis are all located near the Recreation room.
Laundries - Coin operated laundry facilities are in three locations around the Village, and include washing machines and dryers.
Music Room - contains piano for students to use and an area for any student to play or practice a musical instrument.
Shopping - Student Village is located within walking distance to the Kardinya Park and Winthrop shopping centres where there is a wide range of shops and services.
Buses - The University is on a major bus route, providing access to local shops as well as the Central Business District of Perth and Fremantle as well as the major regional shopping complex at Booragoon.
On-Campus Facilities - Residents also have access to the recreational facilities on campus. These include tennis, basketball and squash courts, gymnasium, weights room, cinema and drama theatre.
TV Lounge - Contains VCR and TV for educational or recreational purposes. This room is opened during duty hours or upon request.
Can I bring a VCR/TV/Stereo equipment?
Students may bring their own VCR, T.V. or stereo equipment for use within their flat. Because of safety concerns, all electrical equipment not purchases in Australia must be approved by the Buildings Supervisor before being used.
Alternatively, many students rent a TV/VCR for communal use within the flat.
Student Village Ethernet - What will it cost?
All rooms have an Ethernet cable and access to the internet through a third party provider. Various plans are available so you can select the usage that suits your needs.
